About this trip
Ras Mohamed was Egypt's first national park, gazetted in 1983, and remains the country's most decorated reef. The park sits at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula where two seas meet, the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez, creating nutrient-rich currents that support an unusual density of marine life. We snorkel two of the famous sites: Shark Reef, a sheer wall that drops to 750 metres, and Yolanda, named after a Cypriot freighter that ran aground in 1980 and now serves as an artificial reef.

What you will see underwater
Schools of barracuda hunt the wall every morning. Napoleon wrasse, batfish, and the occasional whale shark on the deep edge between July and September. Yolanda's wreckage is colonised by glassfish and lionfish, and the toilet bowls left over from the wreck are now home to anemonefish.

April to June and September to November bring 25 to 30 metre visibility. July and August are warmer but the water can have algae blooms. December to March is windy, sometimes the captain reroutes to Tiran on north-wind days.
Travel tips
The park entry fee is included in the price. Bring your passport, the army may ask to see it at the checkpoint at the southern park gate. Strong current at Shark Reef means the captain will brief on entry and exit points before you swim.

Swim, sunbathe, take photos. Beach umbrellas provided.
- 16:30Sail back to marina
Sunset on deck, music, snacks. Drop-off at your hotel ~18:00.

Do I need a visa for Ras Mohamed?
Visa rules depend on your nationality and entry point. Most EU and US visitors arriving via Sharm El Sheikh airport get a 15-day Sinai-only stamp on arrival, valid for Ras Mohamed. We can confirm based on your passport at booking.
How rough is the boat ride?
The crossing from Sharm Marina to Ras Mohamed takes 90 minutes through open water. North-wind days from December to February can be choppy. We monitor sea state daily and reroute to Tiran if needed.
